Relationships, Compassion and empathy - Developing a caring culture
Over the last 7 years Bolsover Infant and Nursery School have worked hard to understand the impact of Trauma and Attachment on children and adults behaviour.
In 2016 they started this journey with Derbyshire County Council Virtual School officially, by joining their Attachment Aware Schools Programme. This led to them winning the National 'Alex Timpson ARC Award' in 2020 for our Early Years practice. In 2022 they made a commitment to the newly designed Derbyshire County Council Virtual Schools Attachment and Relationship Aware School programme. They have worked hard in school, locally and Nationally to ensure all adults are aware that child's behaviour is their way of communicating and have developed a culture that supports staff to navigate their way through children's complex emotions and behaviours to help and support them.
This term they have become a National Attachment Research Community Learning Hub, which means they will be supporting other schools and professionals on this journey.
